The struggle to make a film becomes a journey of self-discovery. In the second episode, Ibo travels to Istanbul, attempting to design characters that fit the story of his dreams—while reflecting on his own strengths and shortcomings as a character in his own life. Realizing that he is, in fact, a film character himself—within this very film—he begins to blur the line between creator and creation. As he sketches his characters, he questions whether he is shaping them or if, instead, they are shaping him.
The journey of making a film forces the artist to know himself.
Designing characters, has made me think the things that I never thought of. Who am I in the eyes of a divine force? Who is “the boy”? And what must I do to become my most authentic self?
